DEADWOOD, DAKOTA TERRITORY 1876 OIL PAINTING - $375 (Rapid City)

This beautiful, classic depiction of Deadwood Main Street in 1876 was painted in life-like color in oil on canvas as a commission in 2003 by well-known military / historical subject artist Robert Joseph Wilson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Educated at the University of Pittsburgh and widely acclaimed for his paintings of subjects as varied as fire trucks and military personality portraits, Wilson successfully captured the colors, background and incredible detail of the Black Hills Gold Rush community as no one else has ever done.

This is the only oil painting known to accurately depict both sides of Deadwood’s Main Street on a single horizontal canvas and beautifully framed in solid oak. The frame measures 25-½ x 36-½ inches and hold the painting which measures about 21 x 32 inches.
